1960 GU matriculates meet in city

GUWAHATI, January 4: Back in the day, qualifying the matriculation examition was no mean achievement. And those who could do that at that time are no mean achievers now. The matriculates of 1960 under Gauhati University were overcome with acute nostalgia today when they met in a get–together at a hotel in Guwahati.

As many as 90 members and their family members of the 1960 Gauhati University Matriculates’ Association (1960–GUMA) were present at the get–together. 1960–GUMA has 120 members, and its outgoing president and general secretary were Muktikam Hazarika and Ra Pratap Bezbaruah respectively. Besides sharing their past and present experiences and achievements, they held some programmes. The association held such programmes earlier also. Athlete Biren Medhi and two 1060 matriculates – cine star Nipon Goswami and theatre producer Ratan Lahkar – were felicitated at the programme.   

A souvenir, edited by former AEC Principal Pabitra Kumar Patowary, was also released on the occasion.
