ABVP burns effigy of Mamata Banerjee

SILCHAR, January 5: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad activists burnt the effigy of the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee here in front of the office of the Cachar Deputy Commissioner here today. They vociferously condemned the attack on the ABVP workers by TMC activists in West Bengal. They demanded immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the attack on ABVP workers in different institutions in West Bengal.

It has been recently reported in media that the TMC workers reportedly ransacked the office of the BJP at Burdwan and a few clashes are also reported from various colleges in Birbhum and Bankura districts in which the ABVP workers were allegedly assaulted by TMC members.

Northeast zol secretary of ABVP Monoj Kanti Das condemned the West Bengal government for abetting crimil incidents in the State. He said that the ABVP workers are openly attacked and assaulted by the TMC activists as if there is no rule of law prevails in the state of West Bengal.

Das added to say that the government and the administration are playing the role of mute–spectators as a result the goons are ruling the roost. He threatened West Bengal government and said that if the government fails to take action against the culprits involved in the attacks, the ABVP workers across the country will launch protest against West Bengal government. Among others spoke at the protest site included Amitesh Chakraborty, Rajdeep Adhikari.
