SHILLONG, January 5: The Congress led Meghalaya United (MUA) will stress more on fast tracking the already adopted initiatives (policies and programmes) instead of thinking of newer ones that will not commensurate with the capacity of the government.
This was stated by Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on the sidelines of a meeting held in Shillong on Monday, even as he made absolutely clear that the focus for the next one year is to ‘fast–track’ all initiatives that have been taken by it and create faster visibility and transparency in term of their implementation.
Admitting that there is a backlog in the implementation of programmes initiated in the past one year, the Chief Minister, however, maintained that the government has embarked upon number of initiatives. Sangma said, “When you talk about few big initiatives it also has to commensurate with the capacity of the government to support them with the appropriate resources.”
“What is important for the new year will be to ensure that we fast track all our actions in respect of programmes, overcome the challenges in the matters of implementation and ensure complete transparency and make visibility with the complete involvement of the people,” Sangma stated while re–emphasising his government’s efforts to fast track all these initiatives and create faster visibility.”
