Pro-talk ULFA leader charged with sedition

DIGBOI, May 10: The pro-talk ULFA leader Jiten Dutta has been charged with sedition and rendering provocative statement on May 8 during a rally organized by various organizations, including AASU, here in Digboi Charali Police Point to mark their protest against the implementation of the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. Dutta, who has been actively spearheading the drive in association with the local people, had warned the Government of India to immediately withdraw the much controversial bill or else the youth of Assam would take up arms and join the ULFA (I) to realize the objective even at the cost of bloodshed.

 Meanwhile, executing a suo motu case, a case 104/2018 was registered at Digboi police station on May 9 and prosecuting it u/s 124 (A), a notice to appear in person on or before May 11 has been served to the ULFA leader. However, Dutta, while responding to the notice, said that he was ready to face trial for the sake of his motherland and further expressed his determination to join the mass movements even after his acquittal.
