‘Rural taxis violating norms’

A Correspondent

Shillong, May 30: The East Khasi Hill police on Wednesday warned rural taxis (green and white) from plying within the limit of the Shillong city.

“It has been observed and several complaints have been received from various taxi associations that rural taxis having white colour with green stripes are plying locally within Shillong city and not plying in their actual area of operation,” East Khasi Hill Superintendent of Police (Traffic) BJ Laloo said. Laloo said that those rural taxis plying within the city limits are thereby violating the norms of the permit. “Henceforth, if any violators are found, legal action as per the MV Act will be taken against them,” Laloo added.
