APP’s ‘train-the-trainer’ programme concludes

Itanagar, Jun 17: The Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) completed its three-day 'train-the-trainer programme on body conditioning and strengthening exercises for police trainers' at the 1st AAP Bn ground here on Friday. Twenty master trainers from across the five battalions of the APP were handpicked to participate in the programme from 13 to 15 June, which focused on indoor and outdoor endurance-building, circuit-training, and restorative exercises. A guest instructor from Delhi was also brought in for the training.

The immersive training programme was designed to boost police trainers' understanding of the benefits of innovative exercise techniques to both physical and mental wellness. Using equipment and methods used to train national and Olympic level athletes, the programme helped trainers learn new exercise regimes, ways to modulate exercises based on cognition of individual body types, and how to correctly warm up/cool down to avoid injury and activate muscles in often overlooked parts of the body.

Director General of Police SBK Singh said the aim of such booster programmes was for the master trainers to fully understand the scientific benefits of different exercises and keep themselves updated with new techniques to integrate into the regimes practiced each day in the battalions.

"Most importantly, our trainers can then train others and spread the message of wellness and balanced exercises in their own police contingents and communities," the DGP added.

The train-the-trainer programme is part of the APP's first ever statewide 'Celebrating wellness' month (21 May-21 June) during which yoga sessions, health check-up camps, plantation drives, and body conditioning and strengthening exercise sessions are being held for police officers of all ranks, and their families, across all 23 districts of Arunachal Pradesh.

The month-long programme will culminate on International Day of Yoga on June 21 next, a press release informed.
