Project affected people demand release of land compensation

ITANAGAR, Feb 2: An NGO in Arunachal Pradesh has expressed strong resentment over the inordinate delay in paying land compensation to the people likely to be affected by the 1,750 mega watt Demwe Lower Hydro Electric Project in Anjaw district.

Arunachalee IAS officer dies

ITANAGAR, Feb 2: Former IAS officer Jikom Riba, who had retired in 1994, passed away after brief illness in Niba Hospital here yesterday.

He was 77 and is survived by his wife Lomte Riba, four sons and a daughter. The final rites will take place at his native village Ego–Dari on Sunday, family sources said.

45 houses gutted in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Feb 2: As many as 45 houses were completely gutted in fire accidents in different parts of Arunachal Pradesh with properties worth several lakh of rupees destroyed and over 300 people rendered homeless in the past 48 hours. 35 dwelling houses were reduced to ashes in a massive fire that broke out at Jote Cheda village in East Kameng district on Thursday ...
