Itanagar, July 3: Member of Parliament Ninnong Ering has exhorted people of the State to make a humble beginning for development of eco-tourism in Arunachal Pradesh.
Eco-tourism is one of the sector where Arunachal has got huge potentials. We must tap this huge potential for development of our State, the MP said while interacting with the members of Pasighat Market Association (PMA) and officers of Forest, Public Health Engineering, Urban Development, Public Works Departments at Pasighat in East Siang district on Monday.
The MP suggested for a clean and hygienic town area, developing a sense of belongingness, participation and after all a change in people’s mindset and attitude to start with.
He instructed the DFO to make saplings available to the PMA members for plantation. Random construction of latrines and littering the area with plastic bags must be stopped and dumping of waste materials systematized, the MP said.
He informed that Rs 20 lakh has been sanctioned from his MPLAD for construction of a multi-purpose community hall at market area besides assuring to provide Rs1 lakh for plantation in and around the market areas.
District Forest Officer (DFO) Bittem Darang informed that there has been no shortage in saplings and his department was ready to provide adequate seedlings for plantation. He stressed on creating awareness amongst the vegetable vendors on cleanliness and restriction on the use of polythene bags.
PMA president Onyok Tamuk urged the authority concerned for enhancing security measures and proper lighting system in the market areas. He also appealed for providing sufficient fund for UD department for taking up town maintenance activities.
A threadbare discussions on law and order situation, lighting system, cleanliness awareness amongst public, land encroachment problem were also held, sources added. |
