Itanagar, July 11: The Arunachal Pradesh government has issued strict instruction to all the officers of forest department and wild-life divisions throughout the State for protection of forest, wildlife and bio-diversity.
The instruction was issued by the Chief Minister Nabam Tuki while considering the plea of Fringe Peoples Forum-WL (FPF-WF) of East Siang district for stringent measures to save forest and wildlife recently, official sources informed on Wednesday.
Expressing concern over the rampant destruction of forest and killing of wild animals, the Forum approached the State Government and demanded bold initiatives for preservation. It hoped that the instruction of the government would go a long way in preserving the state’s forest and wildlife.
The FPF-WL, a Pasighat based NGO formed by fringe peoples of D Ering Wildlife Sanctuary, is co-operating with the concerned department of the East Siang in spreading awareness among the rural people on the need of conserving the forest and wildlife.
A team of FPF-WL led by its president John Apum had recently visited the other district headquarters of the state. During its visit the team found that wild animals were being sold openly without any restriction. |
