Itanagar, July 21: In its continuous efforts to curb insurgency in trouble-torn Tirap district, Assam Rifles, with support from Arunachal Pradesh Police, nabbed a hardcore NSCN (K) cadre in the district.

Following a well-planned joint operation carried out in Khonsa, AR and APP personnel arrested self-styled Pvt Winnok Nokbi.

Apart from an extortion note, signed by SS Major Johan GHQ and extortion amount of   Rs 670, a pair of combat shoes was recovered from the cadre.

Nokbi, who hails from village Muktwa of Tirap district, was tasked by self-styled Major Johan to extort money from Khonsa market.

The AR authorities felt that the arrest of the cadre has not only dented the morale of the cadres, but also gave a major blow to the extortion racket being run by cadres of NSCN faction in Khonsa.

It has also restored the faith and harmony among the general public of Khonsa, they added.
