Itanagar, Jan 11: Ace female bodybuilder of Arunachal Pradesh, Paklu Taipodia has beaten all her competitors at the 7th Eastern India Bodybuilding Championship women’s division to be crowned Eastern India Miss Fitness-2017.
Competing at event which was held at Nagaon in Assam on January 08 last, Taipodia outshined the participants from 12 states of eastern India like Odhisa, Jharkand, Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim.
Ahead of this achievement Paklu had attained fifth position at Senior National Bodybuilding Championship-2016 and was state champion-2016 in women’s division.
Weightlifter turned bodybuilder Paklu, daughter of Marpak Taipodia hails from Lika village of Likhabali in West Siang district.
Paklu, a mother of three is also a former national level weightlifter of Arunachal Pradesh and the first woman lifter from state to take part in National Weightlifting Championships. He is the first women from the state to win a gold medal from her maiden participation at the Eastern India Weightlifting Championship in 1997-98.
After weightlifting and having married, she chose bodybuilding as an alternative. Her first daughter is pursuing second year in medical education.
Recruited under meritorious sports quota as clerk in the department of forest and environment, she manages her time for training along-with managing household necessities apart from performing official duties.
Meanwhile, Sports Authority of Arunachal chairman Hora Malik, sports and youth affairs secretary Dani Salu and Arunachal Bodybuilding Association president Techi Jovae has congratulated Paklu Taipodia for her magnificent achievement.
