No government is corruption-free: Mannan

From our Correspondent
SILCHAR, June 28: “A movement should be such that can awaken the youths of the country for the larger good. It should arouse the people to stand against the oppression of ruling class,” said Mahi Uddin Manna, vice president of All India Democratic Youth Organization (AIYDO), who was addressing the youth conference on the occasion of 46th foundation day of the organization, held at Gandhi Bhag auditorium here recently. He said, “It is the duty of our organization to unite the members of young generation of the country to fight against the capitalist rule.” He further said that unbriddled price rise, massive retrenchment, and mounting unemployment were wreaking havoc in the lives of common people. He pointed out that people had lost their faith in the Congress, BJP, and CPI (M) as he considered them the political managers of the ruling bourgeoisie. Mannan also said that the government claimed that it did not have the wealth to provide pension to the unemployed youth but the politicians are looting crores of rupees. “There is not a single government which is free from corruption. Newer scams involving thousands of crores of rupees are unfolding every day,” he added. He opined that the capitalist owners got away by embezzling huge amounts of Provident Fund, and gratuity of the poor workers. He said the condition of the country is gloomy as the economic condition compels mothers to sell their children. Mannan added to say that there is a requirement of mass movements based on the different issues that would have the ability to usher in a change in the society. Mannan also advised the members of youth front to launch movement on the issue of Silchar – Lumding broad-gauge. He also said that the condition of roads in the city was worsening day by day. Moreover, he asked to fight for the cause of general people. On the day, he demanded before the government to ensure unemployment allowance to all, immediate distribution of 100 days work to the needy under the MGNREGS scheme, and increase the emoluments of daily wage labourer to Rs 200. He also emphasized on the acquiring of higher character and human essence by the members of the organization. Among other present on the occasion included Nandan Nath, district secretary, Karimganj, Tushar Kanti Purkaystha, state secretary of the front.
