BJP blames administration for Kalain mayhem

From our Correspondent

SILCHAR, July 6: Bharatiya Janata Party, Kalain Block Committee castigated the administration for the violent incidents during the 12-hour Barak bandh called by Hindu Jagaran Mancha and several other organizations on Wednesday, in order to mark their protest against the different incidents of harassments on common people across the valley following the brutal assault on the Rumi Nath alias Reshma and her second husband Jacky Jakir in a hotel in Karimganj. The leaders of the party also condemned the inhuman attack on the journalists Sanjib Singha, belonging to Barak Varta and Biman Sinha, attached to a satellite news channel, who were discharging their professional responsibility.

Nitish Bhattacharjee, former president of BJP Kalain Block Committee denounced the attack on Sunil Mandal, publicity officer of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh by the miscreants, and further demanded immediate action against those anti social elements. He said that the mayhem at Kalain had showed the incompetence of the administration in general and the circle officer of Kalain in particular. It was his opinion that the incidents could have been avoided if the administration was a bit serious and responsible.

Bhattacharjee also demanded compensation for the victims from the government who were seriously injured and admitted in the Silchar Medical College and Hospital, besides removal of the circle officer of Kalain.

For the attack on the peaceful picketers and the innocent journalists by unscrupulous elements on Wednesday, the circle officer Khaleda Sultana Ahmed was at the centre stage of fomenting trouble by her prejudicial and partisan role.

However, the eye condition of Pronit Deb, a victim, presently admitted in the medical college, who got injured on his left eye ball while he was picketing peacefully following the attack by the miscreants on Wednesday, is very critical.

Rajdeep Roy, spokesperson of BJP Assam state committee and a doctor by profession said that the condition of Pronit’s eye was very critical and might have to lose it “if proper treatment has not been initiated immediately”. In the Medical Science language it is termed as ‘detritus hemorrhage with retinal detachment with foreign body neigh the eye,’ Rajdeep informed. He also told the journalists that Jamal Uddin Barbhuiya, one of the victims, “is suffering from alma flexure”.
