SILCHAR, July 9: In a bid to provide medical facilities to the rural people, the 25 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 22 Sector AR in co-ordination with the Holy Spirit Hospital organized a free medical camp at a remote village of Umrangshu in the district of Dima Hasao recently.
A total of 203 villagers including women and children were examined by the doctors at the camp and were given free medical treatment, besides providing medicines for a variety of diseases and ailments. Some patients were also referred for advanced treatment to different standard medical centres. The medical officers also spoke on health and hygiene to the local people and offered medical advice to them for adopting preventive and precautionary measures against various diseases.
The Assam Rifles has been organizing such camps under military civil action programme at different remote places in the State for the last few years. These efforts have brought out the humane face of the security forces which act as confidence building measures.
The villagers, who are totally deprived of the modern medical facilities, have been suffering in silence with no one to depend upon. The medical camp conducted by 25 Assam Rifles has come as a real boon for the people. As wide publicity was given in advance regarding the camp, many villagers turned up at the camp. The villagers appreciated the Assam Rifles and the Holy Spirit Trust for conducting the medical camp and requested them to hold more such camps in future also in the interest of the poor people. Capt P R Bhujang was present along with the paramedical staffs from 25 Assam Rifles and Holy Spirit Trust hospital in the camp. |
