SILCHAR, July 11: In order to give incentives to the tea workers on the permanent roll, the management of Binnakandi tea estate, 15 km from the sub divisional town of Lakhipur in the district of Cachar, at a simple function on Monday extended financial benefit of Rs 500, Rs 1000, Rs 2000 and Rs 3000 respectively to each of them, both male and female. In all, 264 workers received the incentives for their dedicated and good performance. This kind of noble gesture is extended to the workers after every three years. The present package was for the period 2009-2011.
Satish Chandra Gupta, superintendent of the tea estate, handed over the financial benefits to the workers belonging to Binnakandi and its three outgardens which include chhotomanda, Machhkhal and Boali. This tea estate is the unit of Cheviot Agro Industries Ltd, based at Kolkata. A total of Rs 2.5 lakh was distributed. Others present at the function were Arun Kumar Sharma, accountant, deputy managers, Sandeep Singh Tanwar , Binay Pandey and Shaley along with all the staff and Bagan panchayat members and office bearers. This gesture of the Binnakandi tea estate has come in for high praise in the trade union circles which they believe help in better relations and understanding between the management and the workers. |
