SILCHAR, July 22: Assam Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) in a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi demanded a CBI enquiry into the Pritam Bhattacharjee’s gruesome murder case.
According to the memorandum, Pritam Bhattacharjee, son of Sankar Bhattacharjee, a resident of Silchar, while travelling from Guwahati to Delhi via Bihar by Awadh Assam Express was kidnapped by the miscreants on July 9. Pritam, who had boarded S 10 coach of the Express, had a scuffle with some people travelling with him in the same bogie. Soon the goons snatched his bag. He made the last call to his family telling them that he had missed the train at Naugachia station. Since then he remained untraced and his mobile was switched off. Later his mutilated body was body found on July 15, on the railway track under Kataria overbridge,12 km away from Naugachia Railway Station.
Daiyan Hussain, general secretary of APYC, expressed his grief at the brutal killing of a talented student of the State. He said that the people of the Northeast while travelling via Bihar always face harassment by the miscreants. “It is clear that there is no law and order exists in Bihar and the railways are also not safe for journey,” he added.
Hussain however pointed out, “This is not only confined to one individual’s case rather this concern is for everyone who is ill treated in railway compartments while travelling through Bihar.” He said the railway authorities continue to maintain an intriguing silence on the safety and security of the passengers.
He sought the intervention of the Chief Minister into the case and demanded the exemplary punishment of the culprits. |
