Silchar, Jan 10: Mustard seeds, T-38 was given to the farmers by Thambi Singh, SDO, Lakhipur Agricultural office on the month of October, 2016. These seeds were taken to Kaptanpur 13 and Shibpur Part 1 and distributed among 100 farmers who cultivated them. These efforts have brought fruitful results as it is blooming now. Thambi Singh, gramsevak Keshab Acharjee and Motilal Goala, recently visited these fields. The present state of the crops clearly indicates that other farmers could take seeds from Shibpur Part 1 for cultivating on their respective fields. If farmers cultivate religiously, they can earn well from the production.
In addition to mustard seeds, potato seeds, KUFRI and PUKHRAJ were also distributed among 50 farmers, in the same month. They cultivated them at Tolengram under Nayagram GP. The amount of seeds produced reflects the hard work of the farmers that has gone into the production of the seeds. They will be able to use these in the month of March. Thambi Singh and gramsevak Shanti Kumar Singha practically visited the fields. The Agricultural office is very happy for the farmers and the way they worked hard for its proper cultivation. In the same month, a thrasher was also provided to the members of Panthoibi SHG, at village Maninglaikai under Singerband. In one day, they get 40 quintals of paddy. The machine was provided to them under the Welfare for Gender Responsive scheme. Thambi Singh practically visited the field recently with gramsevak Shanti Kumar Singha. Three farmers are required to operate this machine. Mohammad expressed his gratitude towards the Department for giving the machine to the SHG.
