By aliens here, we mean the illegal Bangladeshis who would enter Assam and get settled here as Indian ‘minority’ citizens — in their best living space on earth. Why should they face any difficulty at all in their bid when what they will face here is a friendly and ‘secular’ government committed to protecting the rights of ‘minority’ citizens by all means to preserve the ‘pluralist’ culture of this land? One, in that context, wonders whether the fact that there is not a single floodlight along the India-Bangladesh border is a beautiful manifestation of the friendliness of our ‘secular’ dispensations both at the Centre and in the State towards illegal Bangladeshis so as to consolidate an illegal vote bank for the highly ‘secular’ Congress! And just think that Assam has a mere 208.741-km-long border with Bangladesh to be covered by floodlights! In 2005, the Centre — with a fresh Congress-led UPA in power — had promised that floodlights would be installed along the said border in entirety. Will Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, who has been a Rajya Sabha member from Assam since his first political day, tell us why that promise has not been kept? Or was that a promise not to be kept? |
