GUWAHATI, May 6: The Kamrup (Metro) District unit of Relief and Rehabilitation Department of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today organised a programme on garbage disposal and cleanliness at Lachit Nagar area of the city. APCC President and MP Bhubaneswar Kalita, Chairman of GMDA Captain Robin Bordoloi and Guwahati District Congress President Abir Patra and State President of Relief and Rehabilitation Department Hemanta Neog along with a number of other local people and dignitaries attended the day–long programme. Inaugurating the programme APCC President Bhubaneswar Kalita said that much has already been done towards the development of the city but it is not adequate yet. GMDA Chairman Captain Robin Bordoloi emphasized the need for large public participation in maintaining cleanliness of the city and smooth disposal of garbage. He also criticized the role of Ramki, the organization in–charge of garbage disposal of the city. This was stated in a press release.
