GUWAHATI, June 23: The WPT and BC Department of Government of Assam has asked all MLA’s to submit proposals on nominees for the National Tribal Awards, 2012-2013 as directed by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
The last date of receiving the nominations has been set as October 31. The screening will be done at both district and State level.
The National Tribal Awards, also known as the Rashtriya Janajatiya Puraskar, started from the year 2008 and has been conferred to tribals, who have excelled in the face of adversity with their grit and determination.
The main aim of the award is to recognize such individuals, so that they can be set as a role model for future generations as also to reinforce a positive image of the tribal people. It also aims to mould society’s mindset to accept and encourage the versatile role of tribal people in the Indian society.
The awards will be conferred under the following categorties: National award for the best Janajatiya achiever, one for ST male and one for ST female who have made significant contributions in the field of sports, education, culture, science, technology, entrepreneurship and biodiversity conservation.
National award for exemplary community service rendered to the scheduled tribe, National award for the best performing Integrated Tribal Development Project(IRDP) and Integraed Tribal Development Agency (ITDA). |
