GUWAHATI, June 28: Sixteen railway stations will be covered under the intergrated security system of the NF Railways to ensure saftey and security of its passengers.
These include, Katihar, Kishanganj, New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri, Kokrajhar, Lumding, Guwahati, Badarpur, Diphu, Dimapur, Furkating, Mariani, Simaluguri, Jorhat town, Dibrugarh which will be provided CCTV facilties with home to home signal, bomb blanket, dog squad, among others. This was stated by the newly appointed GM of NF railways, Ranjit Singh Virdi at a press meet held in the NF Railway head office here today. The GM announced that to maintain safety at all levels, regular inspections are carried out at various level. 118 unmanned level crossing gates have been manned last year. This year, the target of manning 75 such unmanned level crossing gates have been set, said the GM.
He further added that last year, 31 unmanned level crossing gates have been closed with permission from concerned district authorities. And this year, a target of closing 25 such gates have been set. There are 68 proposals for making road under bridges in lieu of level crossing gates.
Stating that the entire northeast region is very vulnerable region from security point of view and is under constant security threat, the NF Railways said all openings to the Guwahati station have been manned and security forces deployed to vigil. Also 4 metal detectors have been installed at two entry gates to Guwahati station.
He said, there are 16 CCTV cameras which are on round the clock, and they are monitored at control room manned round the clock. Besides, one dog squad has also been deployed with two sniffer dogs. Regular patrolling of platforms, circulating area by RPF/GRP personnel have also been conducted, informed the GM.
Plain clothes security personnel have also benn deployed. Physical search/frisking of passengers at entry points, checking of baggage with dFMDs/HHMDs have been taken up to ensure security. |
