GUWAHATI, July 3: The CID has assured that the culprits of the Gadapani Pathak murder case will soon be brought to book with evidences already pointing to some important links in the murder mystery.
Sources from the CID said today that after the case was handed over to them on May 22, investigations are on full swing. Faizul Islam, an important connection to the murder has also been interrogated after his release from the kidnapper’s clutches a month ago.
“We have looked into every aspect of the murder and abduction case and many facts have come to light. It is not before long that the culprit will be in our hands,” revealed the source.
Meanwhile, Faizul Islam, during the course of his interrogation has identified two persons in connection to their adbuction, both of whom have been identified as militants of the Kamtapur Liberation Organization (KLO).
Gadapani Pathak, a superintendent engineer of the Agriculture Department was abducted by miscreants along with another engineer of same department, Faizul Islam (46) at gun point, on May 2 at Boitamari. He and his companion were on their way from Dhubri district to Guwahati. On May 3, the dead body of Gadapani Pathak was found while Faizul Islam was kept under captivity by the kidnappers before being released a month later.
The murder had created a sensation in the State with people raising a furore over the delay of justice to the perpetrators of the crime. |
