GUWAHATI, July 29: A meeting of the office bearers of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) was held at Rajiv Bhavan in Guwahati today. The meeting, which was presided over by APCC president Bhubaneswar Kalita, was held to take stock of the situation in the BTAD and Dhubri district.
APCC general secretary Dr Haren Das said in a press release, “The APCC strongly stands behind Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in this hour of crisis and will do everything required to restore the confidence of the people in the affected areas and to help the government in imparting relief and rehabilitation to the victims.”
“The APCC also appeals to the people of Assam, especially in the affected areas, to take a realistic view of the situation and not to make any statements that might add fuel to the fire and disturb communal peace and harmony. This is the time for constructive work and positive thinking, not to indulge in factional and fractious politics,” added Dr Das. |
