GUWAHATI, August 1: The first Battalion of National Disaster Response Force is deployed at Patgaon Guwahati to render its service to humanity in wake of any disaster in any part of the country, especially in the Northeast. On August 1, 2016 the first NDRF battalion organized “Swachh Bharat Campaign’’ by cleaning and launching the sanitation campaign in Majuli revenue circle in Jorhat. Sewage spills by flood are unpleasant and can cause vast disruption to home. Raw sewage can contain a variety of bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites that can cause serious illness and even death. The NDRF battalion decided to make massive public awareness and to ensure participation of the local community on the “Swachh Bharat” movement while conducting familiarization exercise (Famex), mock exercise, flood rescue operation and community awareness programme.
