GUWAHATI, Jan 11: The issue of expansion of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s Cabinet has been pushed to the back burner yet again.
The Cabinet was supposed to be expanded by January. However, of late, it has become clear that the Cabinet expansion is not possible before the presentation of the Annual budget in the State that is in March.
According sources in the party and the government, for various reasons the Cabinet expansion has to be deferred. “The list of candidates to be inducted into the Cabinet is still to be prepared. The heads of some of the boards and corporations in the State, however, will be named soon,” sources said.
The alliance partners have been openly claiming the number of seats in the Cabinet as well as in boards and corporations.
