GUWAHATI, Jan 11: Members of the Assam Pradesh Trinamool Congress (APTC) led by its president Dwipen Pathak staged a dharna at Dighalipukhuripar in the city today in protest against demonetization and the hurdles which the people of the country have been facing since November 8, 2016. Elsewhere in the country the party staged protest against demonetization on January 9, 10 and 11. The party leaders said: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi did promise to bring back Rs 3 lakh crore black money to the RBI. Has that amount been recovered? If so, why’s there such a cash crunch?” The party said that the introduction of 2000-rupee notes has, in fact, helped the capitalists, but affected the poor. The party appealed to the government to rollback demonetization.
