GUWAHATI, July 30: The Janajati Smriti Jagaran Samiti, Assam, has slammed All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) president Badruddin Ajmal for demanding that the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) should be dissolved.
Janajati Smriti Jagaran Samiti, Assam president Bholanath Doley said, “Badruddin Ajmal has made a baseless demand. Such a demand will only flare up ethnic riots in the Bodo Territorial Areas District (BTAD). It is unfortunate that being an MP, Ajmal does not what to say in order to quell the violence in the BTAD. He is making baseless comments to please a particular community so that his party’s vote-bank is not affected. We appeal to people not to get provocated by his statements.”
Janajati Smriti Jagaran Samiti, Assam general secretary Phatik Chandra Doley said, “In 1945, the then Chief Minister of Assam Gopinath Bordoloi had set up tribal belts and blocks in order to preserve land for the indigenous tribes and communities. However, now all these tribal belts and blocks have been encroached upon by illegal immigrants.”
The Janajati Smriti Jagaran Samiti, Assam has warned the AIUDF chief to refrain from making such comments in the future. |
