GUWAHATI, Aug 3: Condemning the BTAD violence, the Bharat Raksha Manch of Guwahati submitted a memorandum to the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee seeking answers as to why the Bangladeshi infiltration in Assam has continued unabated since1947. They further questioned the President whether the Centre’s delay in sealing the Indo-Bangladesh border is due to lack of political will or a hidden vote bank policy.
Citing a few newspaper reports of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi blaming the Centre for not sending Army earlier to the violence-hit lower Assam districts, despite having informed the Union Home Minister and Defence Minister regarding the same, President of the Mancha, Ravi Sharma and General Secretary Rajesh Surana said that going by the Chief Minister’s comments, they demanded prosecution of the Defence Minister and Home Minister for their negligence and laid back attitude in handling the situation that erupted in the BTAD areas. |
