GUWAHATI, July 5: N F Railway defeated SAI SC  by 4-2 in a wet field of Nehru Stadium in the eighth edition of N N Bhattacharya Football tournament  today. The Railway team was in lead by 2-1 at half time. Shashanka Chanda gave them one up in the sixth minute of the match which was equalized by Sunil Murmu in 23 rd minute. SAI got a penalty and goalkeeper of NFR N Ingo Singh save William Gangte’s shot partially but Sunil put the ball in nett in rebound. Just before the half-time  NFR got a penalty which was successful converted by Sibra Narzary.

SAI players tried hard to come back in the second half but Sunil Murmu scored the third for Railway through a free kick in 51st minute. Then it was striker Jelendra Brahma who headed perfectly of Sibra’s corner into the nett in 66th minute. Striker William Gangte who wasted many opportunities got success at last in 87th minute and scored a consolation goal for SAI.

Maharana AC defeated Navajyoti Club by 4-2 in tiebreaker yesterday after the match ended goalless in stipulated 90 minutes.

Tomorrow Kamrupa FC will take on Abutani SC.
