GUWAHATI, Oct 4:  The law and order situation in Guwahati continues to deteriorate with the sharp rise in the crime rate in the city. The body of  Nilotpal Lahon, husband of Additional SP Leena Doley was found in a Tata Sumo vehicle (registration number AS-01V-8772) outside the Bogola temple in Kamakhya hills this evening, under suspicious condition.

A pistol was also found next to his body. Priliminary investigations by the police is on, although the exact cause of his death is still not known.

In yet another instance of gruesome murder, a five-membered team of dacoits entered the house of one Dilip Saikia on Wednesday night, assaulted his family members and murdered Saikia. Local residents rushed to the house when its occupants raised an alarm. The neighbours succeeded in capturing one miscreant and handed him over to the police. The miscreant has been identified as Nazmul of Barpeta district.
