From a Correspondent SHILLONG, July 9: The Meghalaya Government has decided to give a written assurance to the protestors who are on a fast-unto-death agitation at Langpih, West Khasi Hills district. Speaking to a group of reporters here today, Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh said, “The State Government through the West Khasi Hills administration would hand over the written assurance to the activists at Langpih on Tuesday.” Stating that the decades old boundary problem with neighbouring Assam cannot be solved overnight, Lyngdoh said that as of now the State was in a stronger position to prove its claim over the disputed areas. During his recent visit to Langpih, the Home Minister claimed that he assured the agitators that not an inch of the State’s land would be allowed to be snatched from its possession by Assam. Lyngdoh also said that the long pending demand of the villagers for setting up of a police station at Langpih would be examined. |
