From a Correspondent SHILLONG, July 22: The breakaway faction of the Achik National Volunteer Council (ANVC-B) has called a 12-hour Garoland bandh on July 24. The dawn to dusk bandh would start from 5 am and end at 5:00 pm. According to the statement of the outfit, the bandh has been called in protest against the recent killings of some innocent civilians and firing at Williamnagar fish market on Saturday evening. In a statement issued here today, the ANVC (B) stated that it condemned the killing of innocent school teachers and other civilians and firing at Williamnagar by the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA). Terming the violent incidents as an act of barbarism and brutal act of terrorism, the ANVC (B) said, “This is totally insane and inhuman and it is the GNLA’s desperate attempt to prove superiority.” Meanwhile, the ANVC (B) has also denied its involvement in Saturday’s Williamnagar fish market shooting.
