From a Correspondent SHILLONG, Aug 3: A Meghalaya Government employee was on Thursday night shot at by the suspected Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) on the belief that he worked as an informer for the police. According to the police, Clement M Sangma (40), who worked as a clerk in the Weaving Department at Williamnagar, East Garo Hills, was injured when he was shot at by the GNLA militants at his residence at around 10 pm on Thursday at Darimgre village around 5-6 km from Willamnagar town. “They shot him at both the legs, but he is still alive and has been rushed to the Tura Civil Hospital,” said a police official of the East Garo Hills district said. Police said the GNLA must have suspected him to be a police informer. |
