From our Correspondent. SHILLONG, August 7: To mark the 10th year of the Avenues, a Finishing and Communication Skills Academy in Shillong a youth icon award has been instituted. The award is an attempt to recognise and acknowledge the work and achievements of the unsung heroes and icons of the State’s youth. The awards titled, “Avenues’ youth icon awards 2012” which would be held in September were announced here today. Achievers in various fields like entrepreneurship, social work, education, visual arts, advocacy, media, citizen journalism, creative and performing arts, tradition and culture, tourism, sports and conservation would be presented. In this regard a selection committee has already been constituted in June this year to identify the youth icon awards. The committee is chaired by former Meghalaya minister Robert G Lyngdoh the other members would be Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) Vice Chancellor, Glenn Kharkongor, Patricia Mukhim Padmashree winner and editor The Shillong Times, director IIVET, IGNOU AS Guha, and principal Lady Keane College C Massar. |
