Paswan calls Advani 'frustrated'

New Delhi, Aug 7: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan has described BJP veteran Lal Krishna Advani as a frustrated politician in the wake of his 2014 general election predictions.

Reacting to Advani's latest blog, Paswan said that the latter has now realized that his political innings is all but over.

He, however, expressed confidence that the ruling UPA would once again emerge victorious in the 2014 elections. “Whatever Advani has said is out of frustration. I am sure that the UPA would come into power again,” Paswan said.

In his blog on Sunday, Advani predicted that the Congress party would not get more than 100 seats in the 2014 parliamentary polls. Advani said that a “non-Congress, non-BJP Prime Minister heading a government supported by one of the two principal parties” is feasible.

“This has happened in the past also. But, as the Prime Ministership of Chaudhry Charan Singh, Chandrashekhar, Deve Gowda and Inder Kumar Gujral , as also of Vishwanath Pratap Singh have shown, such governments have never lasted long,” Advani said.

He wrote that the Congress Party’s score might “sink to just two digits, that is, less than one hundred!”

“The party’s miserable performance in Rae Bareilly, Amethi etc. which have long been regarded as pocket-boroughs of the first family, in the UP Assembly polls held recently and its dismal record in the Corporation elections of Uttar Pradesh where , as against the BJP’s score of ten out of twelve Corporations, the Congress drew a big blank are clear indices of the party’s collapsing fortunes,” he added.

He went on to add that the BJP continued to be a beneficiary of the “fast eroding reputation” of the Congress. (Agencies)
