IMPHAL July 22: The Imphal bench of the Gauhati High Court has directed the Manipur government to prepare a fresh list of successful candidates of the MBBS, BDS entrance examination conducted on June 9, 2012. The result was declared on June 11.
However, strangely the government held this list null and void citing some anomalies in the question papers. Accordingly, a second list of successful candidates was announced on June 22. The list was once again revised and a new list was again announced on June 23.
However, some students whose names were in the first list had gone to the law court. They pointed out that in the successive lists, their serial numbers have been downgraded. This has caused to them great inconvenience. Admission is done on the basis of order of merit. It means that these candidates whose names were listed much above may not get admission now that their names are downgraded.
Justice T Nandakumar in his ruling, cancelled the list of the successful candidates announced on June 22 and 23. He further directed the State government to prepare a fresh list of successful candidates. This should be done within seven days.
In Manipur, the admission test of the MBBS/BDS has always been mired in controversies. This time the government announced that three teachers associated with the preparation of the wrong question papers have been blacklisted and that the Mumbai based firm, which conducted the test will no longer be engaged. |
