IMPHAL Jan 7: One tribal youth was killed on the spot when a powerful foreign made bomb had prematurely exploded near Kondong temple at Moreh located along Manipur Burma border, last night. The blast which took place at 8:30 pm last night killed Thangmeinlein Haokip (29) on the spot. He was a resident of Moreh Ward No 9.

Police have registered a case. Inquiries are being made into the incident to know whether Haokip was a innocent victim or was connected with the blast. Angry residents however say that he was an innocent victim and they staged a sit in protest at Moreh demanding action against the perpetrators.

It is to mentioned that in the recent past there had been several bomb blasts in these areas where some Assam Rifles personnel and farmers had been killed and many others were wounded. Some proscribed underground organizations had claimed responsibility for these blasts.
