Firings at Chandel district

IMPHAL, Jan 7: There was a fierce exchange of fire between Assam Rifles personnel and suspected insurgents at Khoibu in Chandel district, bordering the international border. The firing started from last night and continued till early this morning. It is said that sophisticated weapons were used in the exchange of fire.

However, there is no report of any casualty.

On hearing the reports of the gunfire the terrified villagers fled to safer places.
