'Bhoga Khirikee' is Making a Good Progress

The editing and post-production of Jahnu Barua's 'Bhoga Khiriki' (Broken Window) is currently going on in Mumbai and the much anticipated film, produced under the banner of Priyanka Chopra's production house Purple Pebble Pictures and Shahnaab Alam's Easterly Entertainment, is expected to be ready for release towards the end of this year. The film has been shot almost entirely in and around Kaziranga, Bokakhat and Guwahati.

Padma Bhusan and Padma Shri awardee Jahnu Barua, who is directing the film after a break of almost four years, said the involvement of two production houses of Mumbai would give the film a wider audience, both nationally and internationally.
"We are making this film based on some real life incidents. A major part of the film has already been shot in and around Kaziranga for 35 days. The film is based on an issue that concerns women from the rural areas. The story revolves around a progressive-minded young woman, her experiences and day-to-day problems. The film will bring a positive mindset to viewers," said Jahnu Barua in a press meet held in the city recently.
As the brand ambassador of Assam Tourism, Priyanka's participation in the regional film production has been hailed as a positive move by the state's film fraternity and tourism department officials.
Shahnaab Alam, who has always harboured a desire to produce a film in Assamese, feels that there is an abundance of interesting stories from the northeastern part of the country that are waiting to be adapted to cinema.
"It was a chance of a lifetime and a great honour to be able to work with a master auteur and storyteller par excellence like Jahnu Barua," an elated Alam said.
"As expected, working with Jahnu da was a daily masterclass in filmmaking. Also, the fact that he is so clear and focused on what he wants to achieve and portray made the entire experience of shooting extremely smooth and highly enjoyable," he added.
Assam Tourism Development Corporation vice-chairman Navadeep Kalita said 'Bhoga Khiriki' was one of the first Assamese films to be made under the state film tourism policy announced last November.
The cast of the film includes Zerifa Wahid, Seema Biswas, Joy Kashyap, Bishnu Khargoria, Sanjay Khargoria, Kashvi Sharma and Mohommed Ali Shah.
