A new book titled 'Eri Oha Dinborot Asomiya Cinema', written by noted cine journalist Arunlochan Das has hit the stands. The book covers the history of Assamese cinema from 1935 to 2017. It is noteworthy that Das has been involved in Assamese film journalism for the last 40 years and in the said book, he has thrown light on various aspects of Assamese films - its history, ups and downs, trends of filmmaking, along with rare photographs, working stills and posters of most of the films, with commentaries. An interesting aspect of the book is that it presents Bhupen Hazarika as a child actor, romantic hero, playback singer-lyricist-music director and director and elaborates how he was attracted to filmmaking. He also suggests that there should be a biopic made on Hazarika.
