Raas Festival in New Delhi

Since 2009, the husband-wife duo of Basanta Kumar Baruah and Bobby Sarma Baruah have been successfully organizing Raas festival on a grand scale, making it possible for the people of the bustling city of Guwahati to enjoy and appreciate the various nuances of this great Sattriya heritage. At a time when traditional values have been crumbling down much to the concern of the senior populace and the young generation has been blindly imitating the West, a fresh breather has come here in the form of Raas and Bhaona. The highly traditional and revered Sankari performance has become quite an an unmissable treat for the Guwahatians. 

Recently, BB Creation's Sri Krishna Purnanga Raasleela was performed under the aegis of Sangeet Natak Akademi in New Delhi which was indeed a rare honour for the people of Assam. Titled Sri Krishna Purnanga Raasleela, the presentation, performed on November 5, turned out to be of immense attraction for the people in the national capital. A wide-ranging audience, besides the Assamese community of Delhi, has had an opportunity to experience and learn about our rich heritage. 
The various roles on the occasion were enacted by Atul Pachani, Debojit Dutta, Chumki Saikia of 'Beharbari' fame, Nilakshi Bora, Sulakshana Barua, Manoj Das, Nitumoni Saikia, Bipul Barua, Sushmita Kalindri, Moon Rajiv, Jitu Bora, Ajay Basumatary, Diganta Bhuyan, Chandan Mishra, Ashramika Saikia, Alice Shaikh, Percy Devi, Nandini Das, Tanushree Kalita, etc. The dances were directed by noted artiste Naren Chandra Barua.     
Earlier, the rehearsal of Purnanga Raasleela was flagged off on October 2, on the day of Gandhi Jayanti, at Hengerabari, and was attended by a number of celebrities from different walks of life. Everyone applauded the endeavour of BB Creation in espousing the splendid cultural inheritance and strengthening the bond of unity and amity among the different communities.
