New Delhi, June 15: Soccer fans across the world were all praise for Fernando Torres, who played a crucial role in Spain’s victory against Ireland on Thursday. Torres scored two goals as Spain defeated Ireland 4-0 that put them on top of Group C.
Following Thursday’s win, the Spanish newspapers hailed El Nino (the kid) for his brace against Ireland. This was Torres’ first goal in a major tournament since 2010. His last goal came against Germany in 2008 Euro Cup final.
Torres faced huge criticism ahead of the tournament and the critics even questioned his selection in the playing eleven.
In spite of his poor form, the Chelsea striker was included in Spain’s 2012 Euro squad ahead of Valencia‘s Roberto Soldado and Atletico Madrid‘s Adrian Lopez. Torres, however, has repaid for the faith shown in him by Spain coach Vicente del Bosque and there could be more to come. Agencies
