KOKRAJHAR, March 2: Following the directives given by the Election Commission of India(ECI) to implement the Photo Electoral Roll(PER) in Assam, the district Election officer, Kokrajhar has decided to adopt PER in the district.
Addressing the mediapersons, the district Election Officer, Kokrajhar, Ramen Malakar said that the preliminary works of photo electoral roll has already begun.
He further said,“ The training for Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) and Booth Level Officer (BLO) in respect of 31- Sidli (ST) and 30-Kokrajhar East (ST) LAC constituencies would be held from March 4. The training for 31- Sidli constituency would be held on March 4 at Kashikotra Higher Secondary School while the training for 30-Kokrajhar East constituency would be held at Basic Training Centre, Kokrajhar on March 11.
The release as per the action plan, a printed form would be generated for each elector containing all elector details from the electoral roll database through a software application and photo of elector would be fixed in the form. The BLO will distribute the forms to each household in their jurisdiction and obtain the photograph of each elector and will verify the details of individual, signature and the same would be sent to Electoral Registration Officer. Besides, the photograph affixed in the form would be scanned and cropped.
The District Election Officer, Kokrajhar has requested all the electors to extend their co-operation for exercising the smooth implementation of photo electoral roll in 30-Kokrajhar East and 31- Sidli LAC constituencies.
