DIBRUGARH, June 28: Hundreds of members of the Dibrugarh district unit of Sadou Asom Mottock Yuba Chatra Sanmilan (SAMYCS) staged sit-in demonstration at DDA Market here seeking immediate solution of their various demands including scheduling of the community. The organization later sent a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner, demanding the inclusion of the Mottock community in the Sixth Schedule of the constitution, immediate implementation of anti flood and erosion measures, and rehabilitation of flood affected people. The Sanmilan also want more seats to be reserved in engineering, medical colleges and universities of the State and 40 per cent reservation in Industrial Technical Institutes of the State for students of the community. Control of the price of essential commodities, regularization of power supply and repair of roads and bridges in the Mottock dominated areas form their other demands. |
