CHAMATA, July 9: Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) general secretary Akhil Gogoi was discharged from hospital today after his health was reported to be stable by the doctors attending him.
The KMSS leader was admitted at the Swahid Mukunda Kakati Civil Hospital in Nalbari after being assaulted by youth Congress workers on Friday last. Gogoi had refused to leave the hospital if all the six youth congress workers were not apprehended.
Before, leaving the hospital, Gogoi said he will return to Nalbari shortly to fight for the development of infrastructure in the Swahid Mukunda Kakati Civil Hospital. He further said, “Although I am leaving the hospital, unless the culprits are arrested, KMSS will continue its State-wide protest.”
At the time of his release, Gogoi was accompanied by several locals, including KMSS leaders Sabita Lahkar and Dhairya Konwar.
On the other hand, the Nalbari district unit of AGP held a protest rally today and submitted a memorandum to Nalbari DC, demanding arrest of the culprits. More than 200 AGP workers took part in the rally.
Meanwhile, shortly after joining the Congress, Gaurav gogoi ,the Chief Minister’s son created a controversy by tweeting that Akhil Gogoi ‘likes being provocative’. He wrote on his tweeter wall on July 7, “I think Akhil likes being provocative. Remember how he kicked a policeman in the face? This is the message he conveys to young minds?” He was once again found tweeting on the wall of Konkana Gogoi, one of Gogoi’s tweeter friends, “I did not justify the act of violence. Akhil may not have provoked this act as he has a provocative attitude.” |
