Jorhat, July 9: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s son, Gaurav Gogoi formally joined the Congress in a meeting held at the district Congress bhawan in Jorhat at about 8.30 am today, under the chairmanship of Golap Duarah, the general secretary Jorhat district Congress committee.
Gaurav Gogoi signed all the necessary papers for opening his way to the party membership. Chairman of Jorhat Zilla Parishad, Putul Buragohain signed as the introducer.
Speaking to mediapersons after signing the membership form, Gogoi said the development that the State witnessed during the Congress rule had inspired him to become a part of this party.
Meanwhile, Kaliabor MP Deep Gogoi, general secretaries of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Babita Sarmah and Pradyut Bhuyan, chairman of Jorhat Zilla Parishad, Putul Buragohain and chairman Jorhat Municipal Board, Prasanta Bora were also present in the meeting to welcome the Chief Minister’s son. |
