DIBRUGARH, July 17: A ban on congregation of five or more persons in public places, taking out procession and demonstrations in any form was imposed by the administration in the district. The prohibitory order under section 144 CrPC was promulgated in the entire district by the Additional District Magistrate. Carrying of lethal weapons, sit-in-strike, hunger strike, road blockade, collection of donation, torching of effigy at public places, pillion riding and construction of swahid bedi at government or non-government land have been deemed illegal.
The order further prohibited tinted glass in four wheelers, wearing of olive green dresses, full mask helmets and any activity that may spark off communal disturbance. However, it makes allowance on pillion riding for school going children, persons aged 60 years or more and the personnel of law enforcing authority. The order issued on Monday will be enforced in the entire district for next 60 days.
Any violation of the prohibition by any person will invite action under section 188 of Indian Penal Code. |
