DIBRUGARH, July 17: An awareness meeting on rural development was organized by the Dibrugarh unit of the Directorate of Field Publicity, Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in association with Makum Adventure Association at Makum Mahila Samity auditorium recently.
Participating in the meeting as resource person on behalf of Tinsukia district administration, Bimal Borgohain stated that Centre introduced National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) with the objective of poverty alleviation of rural people currently living Below Poverty Line (BPL) by promoting diversified and useful self-employment and wage employment opportunities. He also highlighted schemes like domestic animal insurance scheme for the socio-economic development of rural areas. Another resource person, Akhil Baruah, interacted with the audience on other burning issues of the society. The meeting was presided over by the secretary of Lion’s Club, Makum, Jayanta Adhikari. The other highlights of the programme were quiz competition and prize distribution.
Earlier, field publicity officer, Dibrugarh, Pranab Kumar Nath, welcomed the people and guests and highlighted the purpose of the programme and how it helped the rural and semi-rural inhabitants of the State. |
