KOKRAJHAR, July 17: The recruitment rally of the Red Horns Division of the Indian Army for the intending candidates of lower Assam with a view to induct the young generations in different category of the Indian Army has begun from today at Sports Authority of India (SAI) Complex at Kanthalguri, Kokrajhar. The recruitment drive would be continuing till July 27 next.
The Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar, Donald Gilfellan today flagged off the first batch of the rally which covered 1.6 km run amidst shouting slogans like long live the country, long live Indian Army. The DC in his brief speech said that it was the most opportune moment for the unemployed youths of the region to join in the most premier institution of the country. He hailed the Red Horns Division of the Army for helping the youths to get recruited and shun violence.
The Red Horns Division of the Army has been organizing the recruitment drive for the lower Assam districts at Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Barpeta, Baksa, Nalbari, Udalguri, and Darrang. In the first day, the recruitment was made for the districts of Chirang and Baksa.
The Area Recruiting Officer (ARO) of Narengi Col JS Sandhu said the recruitment has been made for the intending candidates of lower Assam. He said the Army will take the youths for physical test, medical test and written test for recruitment in the Indian Army. He said that the youths of Assam are physically fit. He also said that more than twenty five thousand youths from lower Assam districts have come for the physical test. |
