Diphu, July 21: Amidst outburst from social and student organizations over the deteriorating education scenario in the district, Education EM of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tuliram Ronghang came down heavily on officials engaged in malpractice. Speaking to The Sentinel, Ronghang said, all necessary measures have been taken and no stone will be left unturned to revive the ailing education system in the district. Acting tough on the corrupt teachers, Ronghang filed an FIR against the headmasters of two LP Schools under Chinthong block on Thursday. In the FIR, the two principals of Sot Recho English LP School and Langthat Amang LP School respectively have been charged on account of siphoning off school development funds for various works. The headmaster of Sot Recho LP School, Dhonsing Kro has been charged in two cases; one for laundering an amount of Rs 3,60,000 meant for additional classrooms and another for swallowing a sum of Rs 10,04,500 meant for girl’s toilet. On the other hand, Sing Tisso, headmaster of the Langthat Amang LP School has been accused on charges of swallowing Rs 1, 80,000 fund meant for additional classrooms.  The Education EM has also issued showcause notices to 144 LP Schools in Karbi Anglong district for their failure to submit utilization certificates.
